Immoral Company.

This is a warning to all to avoid Carlyle Van Lines. They are extremely disrespectful to military members and their families and are known to avoid taking responsibility for their actions. They destroyed my very expensive antique marble coffee table, put deep holes in my floors, and scuffed up my walls. They also took some of the marble outside and scattered around my yard, and may have stolen larger pieces as well as they are not accounted for. Their "marketing" person has been extremely disrespectful in email as well. If you want to be frauded and have your house damaged, furnuture destroyed, go ahead and allow Carlyle to step into your home. Otherwise, avoid them at all costs. Please do your research on this company, check Google and Facebook, we wish would have!

Avoid Carlyle Van Lines.

This was our 5th military move and by far the worst experience with any moving company we have ever had.  Poor communication:  To begin, they misjudged how long it would take to pack our house and estimated 3 days.  Then they came back and decided they only needed 2 days (more realistic) but failed to notify the packers.  So the packers arrived at our house on a Friday (before Labor Day) instead of on Tuesday to pack.  Typically this would have been something easy for us to deal with but I was in the hospital having just delivered my second child and we thought we would be coming home to spend the last weekend in our house before the packers arrived.  Instead we had to move into a hotel.  Needless to say, on the following Wednesday there was nothing left to pack because they finished in 2 days. Lack of Professionalism:  The driver arrived with his straight-truck on Thursday to load our stuff.  There was a golf cart on the truck that he had to pack around.  He was going to drop it off on his way to our destination.  He had two guys with him to pack the truck.  They had been told they were doing a move-in (easier) and not a move-out and were openly upset about how they were lied to by the driver.  They also asked the driver to call in extra help.  Since the driver pays the movers out-of-pocket he refused to call for extra help.  We initially questioned the driver if our 3000-sq-ft household goods would actually fit in his truck and he assured us that he's packed 14,000 lbs before.  Sure, I could pack 14k lbs of lead bricks in his truck too and make it fit but could he fit our boxes and furniture?  His ego took over from that point.   Needless to say at 9 p.m. on the load day much of our stuff was still sitting on the driveway and his truck was full.  He had even packed an antique child rocker and a tricycle in his passenger seat of his cab..  The movers put all of the "left over" stuff back into our garage and said they would return with a second truck the following day.  The driver also ran out of furniture blankets after 3/4 of the truck was packed.  We asked if he was going to get more and he assured us that he would wrap the unprotected furniture when he got back to the warehouse.  This isn't our first rodeo, so we carefully reviewed the inventory sheets and had no issue with the description of our furniture and had verified every piece as it went on the truck.  As a matter of fact, the inventory sheet had very little "soiled, wear" comments and the driver even commented how nice our furniture was.  We also went around the house the day before the packers arrived to photograph all of our furniture (date stamped of course) because after 4 previous moves we have learned. Dishonesty:  The following day the second truck showed up and packed our remaining goods.  Meanwhile we called the warehouse to see if our driver stopped in and got the additional moving blankets.  He never checked into the warehouse and was reported to be on his way to drop off the golf cart (on the other side of the state).  The driver also mentioned that he would be stopping in to visit his brother over the weekend in KS on his drive down.  Let me just say for the record that it rained that weekend in Manhattan, KS.  When our furniture arrived the antique child rocker had severe water damage and the tricycle was wet coming off the truck.  Carlyle denies the damage occurred on their watch.  In addition, the driver finally did go back to the warehouse, after he dropped off the golf cart, and repacked some items (removing some from his van and packing in some from the second day's pickup) but did not annotate on the inventory sheet what he traded or sticker numbers.  So when he arrived at our house on Monday what we saw packed into the truck near the end of the day was not what came off of his truck.  So we had no way to identify what items "may" have been lost or stolen or left in the warehouse.  And our unprotected furniture had not been wrapped in moving blankets and had severe damage to our wood furniture.  When my husband asked the driver about why the furniture had not been wrapped and began to point out the damage the driver got into a verbal altercation with my husband and started to push my husband off the back of the truck.  My father and a neighbor witnessed this and my husband immediately contacted the driver's boss. When we filed our claim (which was full replacement value or repair cost) Carlyle refused to show us their estimate and offered us less than half the cost of repair (we acquired our own estimate) in settlement.  Upon closer inspection of the driver's signature on the inventory sheet.. our driver was Bill Carlyle, Jr.--the owner's son.  At that point we knew we would never get a fair settlement and had to call the Military Claims Office.  We opted to move our entire claim to the MCO for settlement.  From our discussion with our claims officer, we're not the first to have issues with the integrity of Carlyle.  It took over 9 months to settle the claim and Carlyle continues to deny that the water damage was caused in their care (we were actually told to prove it) although we provided before and after DATED photos of the rocker and all of the other damaged furniture.  This was hands down our worst move--from the young, ego-driven driver, the amount of damage, and the packing company's packing/volume estimates.

Claims for Damaged and missing Items.

This company does not take responsibility nor want to be held accountable for any of your items that are damaged, broken or lost/stolen. I have had to send parts of my claims to a military claim officer just to try and get my money back for missing Items and damaged goods. Carlyle says they are supporters of the Military, but they way I see it there all about getting their money out of the Government to move us service members while not caring to take care of our hard earned items. I will never again use this company again nor do I recommend it for anyone else use.

LIED about everything we own!!

Our driver arrived and everything seemed great.  This was going to be our best move yet!  The driver seemed very involved in his paperwork and the moving guys did everything.  Realized later the driver was so "paper-driven" so he wouldn't have to do any work.  EVERY item listed on the 10 pages he filled out had "Z", "SC" and "W".. (badly worn, cracked, chipped, etc.) in the worst possible handwriting.  I was cautious with this move because 10 years ago we had items that were never put on the list and they were stolen from us.  No way to prove it.  Now this.  On our last PCS we had purchased new furniture from Haverty's which they delivered to our home and we never did anything but dust them off.  Now, they are Z, W, CH, CR, and every other code you could think of.  Stuffed a Laundry basket into our deep freezer which had gift boxes, brushes, light bulbs, etc, So essentially, our HHG's arrived in BETTER condition than they left on the truck with.  WILD!  It was as if they were repaired in the 18-Wheeler! Another example: the day before HHG pickup, we had our BRAND NEW Samsung Stainless Steel Refrigerator ($3200) delivered to our door. The driver listed that the handles were bent, it was also, warped, badly worn, scratched, etc. I would say this guy was telepathic, and just adding codes in case they actually arrived in such condition, but that would be an understatement.  Many things were okay and arrived better than they left.  He should me a Miracle Worker instead of a truck driver STEALING the value of property from those who are fighting for his freedom!!  .

Rude and obnoxious.

Carlyle movers parked their semi in front of my house on Sunday, June 15 (Father's Day), blocking my entire 3-car driveway. They had space on the other side of that driveway (approx 6 feet) to spare. The truck first arrived that morning at 11am and I asked them to move it back 6 feet to give me at least 1 lane to get my vehicle out. They did, and my family and I left for our father's day brunch, but when we returned 2 hours later, they had moved the truck forward, covering my entire driveway again. I brought my 2 year old into our house while my wife approached the neighbors who said "it's not our problem, talk to the movers." She proceeded to talk to the movers, who copped an attitude and said they "didn't have a choice." They claimed that it would take them too long to move the truck back and that they would end up blocking the other neighbor's driveway. After one of the movers physically brushed my wife aside by purposely bumping into her and demanding she "get out of our way," she called the police. When a cop showed up 1 hour later, he informed the movers that they were parked illegally, but rather than writing a citation, he told them to move their truck back, as we had originally asked. After some more complaining, they moved it back 12 feet. They did NOT block the other neighbor's driveway and still had plenty of space to unload. It took them all of 5 minutes to complete this task. They finally finished and left at about 3pm. Thank you, Carlyle, for helping "support our troops" as the picture on your truck says..from an unimpressed military service member.

Stolen items.

Good luck if any of your items come up missing they will make you out to be a liar and deny your claim. They basically just try to make as much money off you as possible. A whole bunch of my items are missing and they basically told me to prove it ! I will be taking my claim to the military claims office and I hope that they get black listed. Kelly in management is the only one who will actually assist you in some type of way.

Failure to deliver.

I just want to say to anyone who might visit this page and consider Carlyle Van Services as a hauler of their belongings, to please reconsider.  When they make a mistake with your shipment they take no ownership of their mistakes and will only offer an "apology" to you.     My wife and I are a military family moving from San Diego, CA to Pensacola, FL.  We scheduled a shipment of our belongings and was assigned Carlyle to be the hauler.  When we scheduled the shipment we requested a delivery date of 17 December, 2013.  According to DOT laws the driver was required to have a certain amount of time to get across country- so instead of asking him to do it quicker, we pushed the date back on when we were going to buy our house.   The driver arrived early on the 16th of December, and instead of ensuring he kept his word and called ahead to make sure our delivery would still get delivered to us, he dropped it off in storage.  He didn't call ahead to the storage company as he said he would when he left San Diego, CA.  Carlyle takes no responsibility for the driver's actions, and we are one week from Christmas and won't be able to get our stuff in time.   To most people, this may not be a big deal.  But we have a 6 year old boy, who still believes in Santa Claus, and who's mother spent over 10 months this year deployed and he's barely seen her.  What should have been a wonderful Christmas time, with friends and family, will now be a nightmare.  We have to explain to a little boy who's been super good, and didn't once get mad about his mommy being deployed, why he has no presents.  Why, do you ask?  Because the presents we bought in California were in our shipment that we were told would be delivered on the 17th of December.  How do you tell a 6 year old there is a Santa Claus and tell him he's been good all year, only to let him wake up with no presents?   The type of professionalism and courtesy I saw today when dealing with Carlyle showed me one thing- they do no care about their word or their customers.  We told them over 2 weeks ago what day we needed our belongings delivered- not once, and I repeat NOT ONCE did they tell us it would be a problem.  They called me today to tell me we weren't getting our stuff.  They refused to do anything to fix it, because the driver who was hauling our stuff was in a hurry.. a hurry to off-load so he could finish his deliveries EARLY in order to be home with his family for Christmas.     I'm glad to know that Carlyle drivers and staff will enjoy their Christmas holiday this year with their families, while the military family they displaced in the process has to figure out how to explain all this to a 6 year old little boy who's been excited for this holiday for months.   Thank You Carlyle for putting your reputation on the line as a company and showing your customers that they mean so little to you.   Enjoy your Christmas.   Very Respectfully, Clarence J. Longworth Sandy Longworth.

Military move.

To anyone researching companies to use or not, I highly suggest not using Carlyle. Ive moved six times and this was by far the worst. The driver was friendly, but that was the only good experience. There were thousands of dollars worth of damages, they "lost" a valuable bag and their customer service went from constant daily texts to completely being unreachable now that there are issues. There were tons of half assembled items left all over the house and they left to "go look for our missing items".. never heard from them again. I wish the Navy did not allow this company to be supported, but atleast we will have a say against them for our next move.

Long-distance move from Ohio to Oklahoma

Carlyle Van Lines.

We recently moved from Wright Patt AFB to Altus AFB, OK. Our stuff was picked up on the 14th of December. We were told the required date for it to be in Altus was the 26th. We got our house on the 28th of December. So we called the moving company on the 28th to find out about our household goods. Come to find out they didn't move our stuff until after the holidays, and it got frieghted instead being moved in a moving truck. They told us they couldn't find a truck. We only had 1700 lbs. That is barely anything so I would like to know how you can't find a truck for that. I also am wondering why they didn't just move our stuff as soon as it got picked up. It has been almost a month now and we still have NOT received our stuff. I also do not understand why we were not contacted by Carlyle Van Lines to inform us of any of this. They have been the worst moving company I have ever moved with, and next time I move I will make sure We do not go through them. .
